The season of Easter is drawing to a close with Pentecost only 1 day away! As our current situation remains that we are staying home as much as possible in a fight against the Covid-19 pandemic now is a important opportunity to look to prayer to help get us through.
Know what a novena is. A novena is a form of Catholic prayer. Those praying a novena recite a specific prayer or a series of specific prayers with a certain request or intention in mind. This practice continues over the course of nine days or nine hours.
In a forward from ‘companionscross.org’ it states: “The novena in honour of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian.” Here is a link to the novena that this website has put up for 2020 https://companionscross.org/latest-news/novena-holy-spirit-prepare-pentecost
Feel free to check this novena out or search for others. The Novena would start tomorrow (Friday May 22, 2020) and be prayed everyday until the day before Pentecost, Sunday May 31,2020.
